Assistant Professor in Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Analytics 

 The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Cleveland State University has an opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Analytics. The starting date of the appointment is August 21, 2023. CSU is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers B.S., B.A., and M.S. degrees in Mathematics, and an M.S. in Statistics anticipated for Fall 2023. The University, College of Arts and Sciences, and Department seek to attract an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber. The successful applicant is expected to carry out an active program of research in Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Analytics, to seek external funding, and to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Statistics. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in department, college, and university service.

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • A Ph.D. earned by July 1, 2023 in Statistics or Biostatistics; 
  • An active research program in Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Analytics ; and 
  • Strong communication skills. 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • A strong research program in Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Analytics; 
  • A research agenda open to across-campus and off-campus collaborations; 
  • A demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students; 
  • Experience with innovative methods of instruction and assessment; 
  • Evidence of a substantial contribution to a successful academic event, initiative, or ongoing activity; and 
  • The ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
