The Department of Mathematics is seeking candidates in all areas of mathematics. In particular, researchers having demonstrated excellence or exceptional promise in the areas of algebra, combinatorics, geometry, analysis, mathematical physics, probability theory, number theory or topology are encouraged to apply.
Candidates who bring expertise bridging current areas of research present in the university will be viewed favourably. A relation to applicable mathematics (e.g. topological/geometric aspects of data science, mathematical aspects of post-quantum cryptography, or numerical analysis) will also be considered positively. What we expect from you… The successful candidate is expected to apply for joint and individual third-party funding (such as calls of the Luxembourg FNR, or of the European ERC program). Evidence of this ability (as portrayed by the candidate’s track record) will be a crucial selection criterion.
