JOB OVERVIEW:
The algorithm scientist will develop, analyze, and implement novel algorithm for the analysis of large data sets, and in the area of machine learning. The goal is to bring modern mathematical tools to solve concrete problems arising from the specifics of the data sets and attributes arising from clinical diagnostics and high throughput mass spectrometry. The algorithm scientist will interact with the laboratory, spectral processing, and classifier development teams. Algorithms will be described and passed on to our software team to be implement in our analysis packages.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop algorithms to solve specified problems.
• Analyze existing algorithms to find improvements.
• Bring novel mathematical tools to our toolkit.
• Review literature in areas of interests.
• Provide algorithm prototypes and descriptions for software implementations.
• Contribute to publications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Doctorate in applied mathematics or theoretical computer science.
• Good understanding of numerical algorithms.
• Knowledge of functional analysis, e.g., RKHS or wavelets.
• Background in game theory (or set theory).
• Ability to work with Matlab for prototyping.
• Demonstrated ability to write reports and prepare publications.
• Ability to interact in a cross-functional team. Biodesix is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status. |
