The successful candidate will have a strong background in mathematics and its applications to computer science, with an active research program involving the application of mathematical methods to an area within computational science or data science. Examples include big data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and visualization. The candidate must be able to stimulate an environment of interdisciplinarity, working with students and faculty from both departments. A Ph.D. in mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field will be expected by the time of appointment.

With about 38,000 students, UNT is the largest university in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the 33rd largest in the nation. We offer 101 bachelor’s degrees, 82 master's degrees, and 38 doctoral degrees. UNT is a public research university and is the flagship of the UNT System.
