Research Training Group Visiting Assistant Professor Department of Mathematics University of California, Berkeley Berkeley, California 94720

We invite applications for one or more non-tenure-track positions with expected start date of July 1, 2018. A PhD (or equivalent degree) in Pure Mathematics is required by the time of hire. Preference will be given to candidates at the early stage of their careers. These positions are partially supported by an NSF Research Training Group grant focused on arithmetic geometry and number theory. Candidates whose research contributes to these specific fields are strongly preferred. The NSF requires that applicants be citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States, its territories, or possessions. The appointment term is at full-time for three years, with an annual salary of $62,000. The duties of the RTG VAPs include participating in the research group activities, such as taking an active part in seminars and research related events of the group, teaching with a reduced teaching load of one course per semester, and conducting their research.
