Simons Collaboration Postdoctoral Scholar-Department of Mathematics

Simons Collaboration Postdoctoral Scholar
Department of Mathematics
University of California, Berkeley
Berkeley, CA 94720

The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar supervised by Professor Emeritus Nicolai Reshetikhin and Professor Constantin Teleman, as part of the Simons Collaboration on Global Categorical Symmetries. This is a joint physics and mathematics research program focused on the interplay between quantum field theory, topology, higher category theory and representation theory.

Further information about the collaboration and its research activities can be found at https://scgcs.berkeley.edu. The postdoctoral scholar will have the opportunity to make extended visits to other collaboration sites, to contribute to joint research activities, and to participate in collaboration workshops and summer schools.

Finalists for the position may have their files reviewed jointly by the Collaboration PI's.

To ensure full consideration, applicants are also asked to record their basic information at https://scgcs.berkeley.edu/open-positions/.

The first year of appointment will be in a pure research capacity. After the first year, the appointment will offer the option of either:
  • one year of full-time research or
  • two years with a reduced teaching load of one course per semester.
To select the teaching option, the postdoc will need to apply to the lecturer pool. Should a postdoc apply for and be appointed to a teaching position, the percent time of the Postdoctoral Scholar appointment will be reduced so that the sum of the percent times of the two appointments equals one-hundred percent (100%)
