Position Description
Visiting Assistant Professor Positions in the School of Mathematics
The School of
Mathematics at
the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for several post-doctoral research positions in the Mathematical Sciences for Fall 2024, subject to the availability of
funds. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an
exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include developing an international level
research program; collaborating across the university in research and grant
efforts; teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses.

Minimum and
Preferred Qualifications for these positions are: (1) a recent PhD or its
equivalent in the Mathematical Sciences; (2) show the potential to carry out
research of exceptional quality at Georgia Tech; (3) research interests complementary
to existing strengths in the School of Mathematics; (4) strong potential for
external funding; (5) the ability in teaching, scholarship, and/or service
that contributes to the Student Success Criteria listed below. Consistent
with these priorities, candidates will be considered in all areas of Pure and
Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

letter, ii) curriculum vitae, including a list of publications, iii) a research
statement including a summary of future research plans, iv) at least four letters of reference including one teaching letter of reference, and v) evidence of teaching interest, abilities, and
related experience summarized in a teaching statement. The Georgia Tech official website for applications is

asked to send their applications to that site for further processing. Successful
applicants will be expected to interact with one or more current Georgia Tech
faculty members and those with whom an applicant might work should be named in
the cover letter and indicated on the Mathjobs application. Applications will be considered beginning November 1, 2023, but the search will
continue until the positions are filled. An earned doctorate is required by the
start of the appointment, and a background check must be completed prior to
beginning employment.

the School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology
The School of
Mathematics instruct students from across campus, including undergraduate and
graduate students. Its faculty carry out research in a wide variety of
Mathematical Sciences. They are key players in several cross-disciplinary
institutes, centers, and programs at Georgia Tech, including PhD programs in
Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization (ACO), Computational Science and
Engineering (CSE), Bioinformatics, Quantitative Bioscience (QBioS), and Machine
Learning (ML@GT). The School plays leadership roles in the NSF-Simons Center –
The Southeast Center for Mathematics and Biology, and hosts an NSF-RTG in
Geometry and Topology (GTGT).
