Mathematics and Statistics PositionThe University of Tennessee at MartinPosition: Assistant or Associate Professor, dependent on qualifications. Tenure Track. One or more positions. Dates: Appointment effective August 1, 2023. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics or Mathematics Education, completed by August 1, 2023 (priority will be given to applicants in the areas of Statistics, Actuarial Science, or Applied Mathematics). Evidence of successful teaching experience, the capability to maintain a program of professional activity that includes research and publication, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student body are required. Classroom experience using technology (including graphing calculators) and awards for outstanding teaching are desired. Salary: Competitive, dependent on qualifications. Responsibilities: Teaching 12 hours each semester. Additional responsibilities include university service, academic advising, professional development, curriculum development, and maintaining a program of professional activity that includes research and publication. Locale: The University of Tennessee at Martin is a primary campus in the University of Tennessee System. The campus is located in Northwest Tennessee approximately 125 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west of Nashville. The University of Tennessee at Martin has a combined graduate and undergraduate enrollment of approximately 6,700 students. The emphasis is solidly on excellence in teaching, research, and outreach. We seek candidates who demonstrate a similar commitment. Department: The Department of Mathematics & Statistics has 20 faculty positions. A major is offered in mathematics with concentrations in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, and secondary mathematics. Minors are offered in mathematics and statistics. The department operates a mathematics learning center that provides instruction in several evening courses and tutoring in all freshman and sophomore level courses.
