Lehigh University's Department of Mathematics is seeking applications to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Mathematical Modeling / Applied Mathematics, beginning Fall 2018. We seek individuals with a specialization in an area of Mathematical Modeling that includes connections to some area of application and that would complement the research interests of the Department. Areas of research interests include but are not limited to: differential equations, mathematical biology, engineering mathematics, mathematical robotics, scientific computing, numerical analysis, and mathematical physics. Qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent; the pursuit of a vigorous research program; and a commitment to deliver high quality teaching and mentoring to undergraduate, masters and doctoral students. We are looking for a scholar who will contribute to the activities of the department and the university, as well as present a high potential for interdisciplinary research. Postdoctoral experience is desirable, but not required. The department expects to fill multiple positions over the next five years and may consider exceptional applicants in other areas that fit upcoming departmental needs or are consistent with Lehigh University's Data X initiative in interdisciplinary computer science and data analytics. Lehigh University also launched the Path to Prominance: a new vision for Lehigh initiative, which includes as a key element the creation of a new College of Health.
