The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Boston University has an opening, in the mathematical neuroscience group of Gabriel Ocker,

This position is to work on projects related to the stochastic dynamics of biological spiking network models, in collaboration with experimental colleagues in the Center for Systems Neuroscience. Other potential project areas include testing optimization principles for anatomical circuit structures, and the role of bursting nonlinearities in sensory coding in the mouse cortex.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is home to strong, friendly groups in mathematical and statistical neuroscience, dynamical systems, applied mathematics, and probability and stochastic processes. The Center for Systems neuroscience is home to established and growing groups, working in a variety of model systems with cutting edge experimental techniques.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics, applied mathematics, computational neuroscience, or a related field. Prior experience in neuroscience is a plus, but not required.
