The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Ottawa invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in the Foundations of Quantum Cryptography, supervised by Prof. Anne Broadbent.

The selected candidate will work on the development of quantum cryptography protocols, techniques, definitions and proofs, with a focus on protocols beyond Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). The ideal applicant is a researcher in quantum information with strong mathematical abilities, or a researcher seeking to develop skills in this area. PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science (or a related area) is required.

The position offers a highly competitive salary and travel budget. Teaching is not required. We strive to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all our activities.

This fellowship is open to candidates of any nationality. The selection will be based on the candidate’s potential for research.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is a sponsor of the Fields Institute of the Mathematical Sciences (Toronto) and of the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques (Montreal). Postdoctoral fellows may benefit from these affiliations. Information about the department can be found at https://www2.uottawa.ca/faculty-science/mathematics-statistics.

This fellowship is for three years, renewed yearly subject to satisfactory performance. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a research plan, up to three of their most significant publications, and arrange for at least two confidential letters of recommendation, through the AMS Mathjobs web site. Applications will be reviewed beginning on October 15, 2022 and until all positions are filled.
