Research Associate

Salary: £36,800 – £44,220

Full time, Fixed Term

Campus: South Kensington

Applications are invited for the position of Research Associate in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London. The position is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and will involve the p-adic aspects of the Langlands program.

The project will involve working closely with Kevin Buzzard and Toby Gee (and the wider number theory group at Imperial) on some aspect of the Langlands program. Depending on the expertise of the candidate, this could involve p-adic automorphic forms, the p-adic Langlands program, automorphy lifting theorems, p-adic Galois representations, Shimura varieties, or perfectoid spaces.

The successful candidate must hold a PhD or equivalent level of professional qualifications and/or experience in algebraic number theory.

It is essential that you have: Experience • A strong research record in the Langlands program. Knowledge • A broad and strong background in algebraic number theory. Skills & Abilities • High level analytical capability • Ability to carry out original research and to produce published research papers • Ability to identify, develop and apply new concepts, techniques and methods
