Job Summary

Applications are invited for a Research Associate Position with regular teaching duties in the Mathematical Finance Section within the Department of Mathematics, commencing on January 1, 2021 or a later date to be agreed with the postholder. The post will be fixed term for 12 months and provides an excellent opportunity for research and teaching in the internationally renowned MSc program Mathematics and Finance.

Duties and responsibilities

You will produce independent and original research within the Mathematical Finance Section, submit publications to refereed journals, and help with administration and the organization of scientific events. You will also contribute to teaching in the MSc program Mathematics and Finance by delivering two existing modules and will assist with mentoring and supervision of students.

Essential requirements

The essential requirements for this post are as follows:

• A completed (or nearly completed) PhD in Mathematics or a closely related subject • A proven research record in Mathematical Finance • Specialist knowledge of and ability to teach courses in Mathematical Finance • A proven research record commensurate with their level of experience as demonstrated, for example, through PhD thesis, publications, conference presentations etc. • Experience of effective interaction with students • Demonstrable ability to teach at MSc level effectively in a variety of teaching situations

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £35,477- £38,566 per annum
