The Computing and Mathematical Sciences (CMS) department at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. CMS is a unique environment where innovative, interdisciplinary, and foundational research is conducted in a collegial atmosphere. Candidates in all areas of applied and computational mathematics, computer science and statistics are invited to apply. Areas of interest include (but are not limited to) scientific computing, optimization, statistics, probability, networked systems, control and dynamical systems, robotics, theory of computation, security, privacy, machine learning, and algorithmic economics. In addition, we welcome applications from candidates who have demonstrated strong connections between computer science, engineering and applied mathematics, and to other fields such as the physical, biological, and social sciences.

A commitment to world-class research as well as high-quality teaching and mentoring is expected. The initial appointment at the Assistant-Professor level is for four years and is contingent upon the completion of a Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
