We invite applications from talented postdoctoral researchers for Hooke and Titchmarsh Research Fellowships. These prestigious Fellowships at the University of Oxford are fixed term up to 36 months and provide an ideal opportunity for candidates to pursue an independent research programme. The successful candidates will be expected to take up the position by the start of the academic year 2018/19. Applications for job shares or for part-time working to accommodate family circumstances will be considered.

Candidates for the Titchmarsh Fellowship should have research interests compatible with those of our current faculty in the algebra, combinatorics, geometry, logic, mathematical physics, number theory, stochastic analysis or topology groups, or the Oxford Centre for Nonlinear PDE. There are up to 4 positions available.

Candidates for the Hooke Fellowship should have research interests compatible with those of the existing faculty in applied mathematics, including mathematical biology, mathematical and computational finance and numerical analysis. There are up to 3 positions available.

The successful applicants will be talented researchers, who have already produced excellent research during their PhD and in any postdoctoral positions. They will be free to conduct their own research programme.

To aid the development of their academic profile, Fellows will be required to contribute up to three hours of departmental teaching per week for the 24 weeks of the academic year, averaged over the period of the Fellowship to allow for extended visits elsewhere.

Candidates will be expected to have a PhD in mathematics or a related discipline. Candidates must show evidence of independence and the ability to undertake research of the highest academic standard, hold an outstanding record of papers published in major international journals (commensurate with career stage), and have a realisable and relevant research plan which would enhance the Mathematical Institute’s research profile. Additional information about the post, and a full list of selection criteria, are available in the job description.

Please direct informal enquiries to the Recruitment Administrator (email:vacancies@maths.ox.ac.uk), quoting vacancy reference 131988 (Hooke) or 131989 (Titchmarsh).

Applicants should read the job description before writing their application. You will be required to upload: a supporting letter setting out how you meet the selection criteria; a curriculum vitae including full list of publications with top three papers starred, a copy of your best paper, a statement of research interests and a plan for research during the Fellowship; and the names and contact details of two referees as part of your online application.

Applications for these vacancies are to be made online. To apply for a post and for further details, including a job description and selection criteria, please click on the link below:
