We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate with a background in stochastic analysis, to work alongside Dr Benjamin Fehrman at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. The position is full time, fixed-term for 36 months, and the post-holder will be supported by external funding from the EPSRC.

The successful candidate will conduct fundamental research in stochastic analysis as part of an exciting new EPSRC Early Career Fellowship awarded to Dr Fehrman, and join a vibrant research community in stochastic analysis at Oxford. They will work in collaboration with Dr Fehrman on projects related to the research proposal, as well as being encouraged over the course of the appointment to pursue their own research agenda. They will write up their results for publication and represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, whilst also managing their own academic research and administrative activities.

Applicants will be expected to have, or be close to completing, a PhD in mathematics or a related discipline, with expertise or an interest in some aspect of stochastic analysis, understood broadly. They will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline; excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publications and present research proposals and results; and be able to manage their own academic research and associated activities. Expertise or an interest in an aspect of stochastic homogenization, stochastic partial differential equations, or interacting particle systems is desirable.

We proudly hold a departmental Athena SWAN Silver Award and an institutional Race Equality Charter Bronze Award, which guide our progress towards advancing racial and gender equality. As part of our strategic aim to improve staff equality and diversity, we would particularly welcome applications from women and BAME candidates, who are currently under-represented in positions of this type within the department.
