Western New England University invites applications for the Director of the Mathematics Center position. The Math Center was established in 1988 and supports student success in freshman and sophomore level mathematics courses. The Director will be responsible for the hiring, training and supervising of all staff (including over 30 student tutors and graders); effective management of payroll, budget, and schedules; math placement recommendations for incoming students; statistical analyses; regular communication with stakeholders around campus; and teaching three courses per year. This 12-month position reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. However, the Director of the Mathematics Center works closely with the Chair and faculty members of the Department of Mathematics. The Department of Mathematics has 14 full-time faculty members who oversee undergraduate majors in actuarial science, mathematics, and mathematics for elementary and secondary educators; minors in statistics and mathematics; and a Master’s in mathematics for teachers. The Department also teaches many courses serving students in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering, and Pharmacy. Required qualifications: at least a Master’s degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field; strong administrative and interpersonal skills; demonstrated teaching excellence.
