Tulane University Postdoctoral Position in Mathematical Sciences

The Department of Mathematics at Tulane University invites independent and motivated applications for a postdoctoral researcher to work in Dr. Mac Hyman's laboratory at Tulane University.

The successful candidate will join a team of mathematicians, computational scientists, and public health workers to develop, analyze, and use differential equation and agent based models to understand the transmission and control of infectious diseases. These diseases range from modeling the spread and control of vector-borne diseases (Zika, chikungunya, and dengue fever) to sexually transmitted infections (e.g. the current Chlamydia epidemic).

We are seeking candidates with strong background in numerical analysis and modeling dynamical systems. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in generating social networks for agent based models and the numerical solution of partial differential equations. Applicant must have a doctoral degree with a demonstrated record of innovative scientific accomplishments. Qualified candidates must be able to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and have a strong commitment to science, be US citizens, permanent residents or holders of an F1/OPT visa with at least six months of work authorization left.

Applications should be submitted electronically at http://www.mathjobs,org and must include a standard AMS cover sheet, curriculum vita, three letters of reference, and a separate statement on the applicant’s research interests and plans.

The Mathematics Department at Tulane has 21 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and their research interests include Pure and Applied Probability, Statistics, Mathematical Biology, and Computational Mathematics. Please visit us at
