Position Description:

The Department of Mathematics, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications for two tenure-track positions effective August 2020, and pending budgetary approval.

The Department offers PhD and Master’s degrees, and has active research programs in Ring Theory, Probability, and Applied Mathematics. Detailed information is available at https://www.uccs.edu/math/.

Special preference will be given to applicants whose research interests lie in Applied Mathematics and Computation but applications from all areas compatible with the Department’s existing research programs will be considered. To be eligible, a candidate must have a PhD in Mathematics or a related field at the time of appointment. Both positions require teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, research, mentoring of graduate students, and service.

One of the two positions is at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate must possess a strong research record and potential to secure external research funding. Preference will be given to candidates with post-doctoral research experience and ability to teach graduate-level computational mathematics courses.

The other position may be offered at the Associate Professor level based on the candidate’s record and experience. To be considered at the Associate Professor level, the candidate must have several years of experience at the tenure-track (or tenured) level at a PhD-granting institution and an established research program. The hiring will be contingent upon successfully going through the tenure process at UCCS at the earliest opportunity available after the offer is accepted. Preference will be given to candidates with prior success in mentoring PhD students and attracting external research funds.

A complete application must include a cover letter indicating the position applied for, the AMS Cover Sheet, a curriculum vitae, statements on research and teaching, and four letters of recommendation; at least one letter should address the candidate’s teaching.

The applicant must upload all documents mentioned above except the recommendation letters at MathJobs, as well as the University of Colorado employment website CU Careers (use the Apply Online link on the bottom of this page). The applicant’s references should submit their letters online at MathJobs. Applicants who do not apply through both sites will not be eligible for the position.

Review of applications will begin on December 1st, 2019, and will continue until all positions are filled.
