The Department of Statistics at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking applicants for the Lindsay Visiting Assistant Professorship, a Visiting Assistant Professor position created to honor the memory of our late colleague Bruce G. Lindsay and his commitment to the mentoring of young scientists and teachers. The Visiting Assistant Professors will receive very competitive salary and benefits, teach between one and two courses per year in an environment supportive of the latest innovations in statistical education, and conduct research under the close mentorship of prominent faculty in various areas of statistical methodology and applications. These include but are not limited to: 1. Statistical methods for program evaluation in HIV epidemics, while adjusting for spatial and temporal confounders, under the mentorship of Le Bao (; 2. Statistical modeling and computational methods for infectious disease models, spatial statistics, or atmospheric science, under the mentorship of Murali Haran( The positions will also offer ample opportunity to interact with Penn State`s world-class faculty, postdocs and graduate students in various interdisciplinary and interdepartmental programs. At the time he/she joins the department, the successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Statistics or closely related field and will receive an initial appointment of two years which could begin as early as August 2019.
