The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Michigan Technological University invites applications for faculty at either the tenure-track assistant professor rank or the associate professor rank with immediate consideration for tenure, in the area of discrete mathematics. Current faculty in the group have interests in partition theory, commutative algebra, coding theory, combinatorial designs and graph decompositions.

The successful applicant should have a PhD in Mathematics, and should have a record of scholarship and be able to draw from relevant experiences to teach courses in mathematics. Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for their research, an enthusiasm for undergraduate and graduate education, and a strong commitment to cultivating diverse and inclusive learning environments. A successful applicant at the associate professor level may already be tenured at their previous institution, and will have an outstanding record of scholarship and evidence of excellent teaching at the undergraduate and preferably graduate levels.

The department enrolls about 120 undergraduate students and 70 graduate students, and plays a key role in the university's interdisciplinary programs in Data Science and in Computational Science and Engineering.
