The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Idaho State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level or tenured position at the associate professor level to begin in August 2023. The position will be in the general area of Computational and Applied Mathematics, including but not limited to Data Science (including Machine Learning), Statistics, or Computational Science. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate students on projects from BIG (Business, Industry, Government). This is the second strategic hire within a cluster of hires in this area over the span of a few years in the department. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with the department and the college to strengthen the undergraduate program and restructure the graduate program. The workload will initially consist of teaching two courses per semester; establishing and maintaining scholarly research, publications, and grant activity; and providing service and leadership to various program areas, department, university, and professional societies.
