The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure track position in mathematics starting August 2018. Candidates with research interests in geometry or analysis are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants must hold a PhD in mathematics by the time of appointment. The successful candidate must demonstrate success in teaching and potential in scholarship. Applicants must also clearly indicate their ability to support the department and college priority for research with undergraduates. The department offers BS and BA degrees in Mathematics and Statistics and a MEd in Mathematics Education for in-service high school teachers. We currently host an NSF-funded REU site and encourage undergraduate research during the academic year. We have active groups in pure mathematics, applied and computational mathematics, statistics, and mathematics education. There are opportunities for inter-departmental projects and cooperation.
