Applications are invited for a 3-year postdoctoral position in the area of very large scale optimization with a particular focus on Alternating Directions Method of Multipliers (ADMM) and Interior Point Methods (IPMs). The position features a 10% teaching duty.

A successful candidate will join the Edinburgh Research Group in Optimization and will work with Professor Jacek Gondzio on the project funded by the School of Mathematics and Oracle Labs. The position should be taken up on May 1st 2020 or shortly afterwards.

Applicants will have completed a PhD in Optimization, or a related field of computational mathematics, and will demonstrate outstanding research potential. An ideal candidate will have a documented expertise and research record in continuous optimization techniques, provable understanding of alternating directions method of multipliers and interior point methods, and will demonstrate excellent programming skills. Prior experience in development of efficient optimization software and applying it to solve very large scale constrained optimization problems would be an advantage.

The role is grade UE07 and attracts an annual salary of £33,797 to £40,322 for 35 hours each week.
