Applications are invited for the Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh. The post is available from 1st September 2024 for a 36 months fixed-term, full-time contract.

This position is funded by the Simons Collaboration on Celestial Holography, made up of 13 PIs at 10 institutions around the world. The post carries the title ‘Simons Fellow in Celestial Holography,’ and carries with it the benefit of substantial opportunities for travel and scientific interaction. This includes funded travel to Collaboration meetings, workshops and schools as well as the potential for intra-collaboration research visits.

The Opportunity:

The Mathematical Physics group at the University of Edinburgh currently consists of: Tim Adamo, Tudor Dimofte, José Figueroa-O’Farrill, Jelle Hartong, James Lucietti and Joan Simon, as well as five postdoctoral researchers and multiple PhD students. In addition to working in collaboration with the grant-holder (Adamo), the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop and pursue their own approaches to research. This position also comes with substantial travel and research budgets.

Applicants should have a PhD in mathematical or theoretical physics and a track record of research excellence. Related qualifications for the role. A track record of research excellence, particularly in the study of celestial holography, scattering amplitudes, twistor theory or related areas.
