The Department of Mathematics at Manhattan College seeks an outstanding applicant for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level, with a start date in August 2023. This search is open to candidates specializing in all areas of mathematics and related fields: pure & applied mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, data science, etc.

We seek faculty members who are dedicated to teaching, mentoring, and creating a climate that embraces excellence and diversity, to attract and retain a diverse and talented student body. The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences or a related field, demonstrate excellence in academic research, and a have a proven commitment to teaching and advising students. Manhattan College and its faculty view research and teaching as mutually supportive activities. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to teach a broad range of topics in undergraduate and masters-level mathematics, to engage students in undergraduate research, and to mentor internships. This candidate must be committed to the teacher-scholar model at a primarily undergraduate institution. Faculty at Manhattan College are expected to provide high-quality teaching with a course load of five to seven courses per year, mentor and advise students, maintain an active scholarly program, apply for external grants when appropriate, and provide service to the department and college. The college is prepared to assist newly appointed faculty members in establishing or continuing a research program.

This is an excellent time to join the Department of Mathematics. The Department of Mathematics currently has sixteen full time faculty who are committed to teaching and are active in scholarly activities often involving students. Faculty in the department have recently received teaching awards from the MAA and external research funding from DoD and NIH. Mathematics students regularly participate in undergraduate research at Manhattan College and external REUs. Some continue to our own Masters Programs in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics – Data Analytics as well as to PhD programs. Current department members have expertise in algebra, analytic number theory, data analytics, differential equations, dynamical systems, game theory, graph theory, hyperbolic geometry, logic, machine learning, mathematics education, operations research, probabilistic and statistical methods, and topology.
