PROGRAM MANAGER, COLLEGIATE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ENTRY PROGRAM (CSTEP)/HIGHER EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM (HEOP) - Search Reopened

The Manhattan College Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) is designed to support participants and address roadblocks that can often be experienced by students from minority, low-income, and first-generation backgrounds. CSTEP engages eligible students who are completing majors that lead to careers in STEM and health-related fields, through entrance into professional licensures.

The Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) provides access to students, who because of academic and financial hardships would not normally be able to attend a private college or university. Working across multiple institutions in New York State, students receive increased financial assistance and tailored academic support.

Each year, CSTEP will serve one hundred and sixty-five freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors studying in Manhattan College’s School of School of Engineering, School of Science, or School of Education and Health. HEOP works with approximately sixty-five students across all disciplines and all years.

The Program Manager is a position available under a five-year grant. The Program Manager, under the supervision of the Director of Opportunity Programs, and in concert with the Opportunity Programs team will be required to:

Assist with the recruitment of CSTEP & HEOP participants

Manage a caseload of students in the region of fifty to seventy, who will be a member of CSTEP, HEOP, or both programs

Oversee the day-to-day management of CSTEP & HEOP activities

Provide academic advisement for enrolled students, facilitating regular meetings throughout the semester with each participant to discuss his or her progress and provide insights on topics such as financial aid and academic support

Serve as a point person for organizing CSTEP & HEOP activities and workshops, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support the mission of Opportunity Programs and the College

Track the students’ participation and progress, and compile the data necessary for reports

Be an active member of the Opportunity Programs Summer Program that takes place between July and August for six weeks

Maintain an “open door” policy to program participants.

Perform other duties as required

Background Required:

The Program Manager will be passionate about the goals of CSTEP & HEOP

A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working with a similar population of students in a related program

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in education, counseling, or a STEM field
