The Mathematics Department at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology invites applications for one-year visiting positions at the Assistant Professor level, starting in the Fall of 2019. Successful candidates will have a doctorate (or be near completion) in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or closely-related field by Fall 2019. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to excellent undergraduate teaching and continued scholarly and professional development. We are seeking individuals who will interact well with both students and faculty in our science and engineering programs as well as strengthen our degree programs in mathematics, biomathematics, or computational science, or our current minor programs in statistics and data science. We will consider all areas of the mathematical sciences, though preference will be given to candidates whose background and expertise fill areas of need within the department.

Candidates who can broaden and enhance the educational experience of our students and department are especially encouraged to apply. The essential job functions include: classroom teaching and student advising; curriculum development and continuous improvement; and research and other professional development activities; there will be minimal service expectations. Experience teaching undergraduate mathematics with full responsibility is desired. A research and scholarship program that supports undergraduate education or undergraduate mathematics research is also desirable.

Rose-Hulman is an institute of technology with approximately 2100 undergraduate engineering, science and mathematics students, and 100 masters’ students in various engineering and science programs; most of the undergraduate students are in the engineering disciplines.  Every undergraduate student on campus is required to take at least five mathematics courses, with nearly everyone taking a course in either statistics or probability.  Because of our strong belief in personal attention, our class sizes are small (typically under 25).  More information regarding our department can be found at http://www.rose-hulman.edu/math.

Application: For full consideration, please apply online at https://jobs.rose-hulman.edu, and include the following materials:  cover letter, curriculum vita, teaching and research statements; graduate transcripts and contact information for three letters of recommendation (with at least one specifically addressing the applicant's teaching ability and experience).

We will begin the initial screening on March 1, 2019.
