The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Delaware State University seeks a tenure-track Assistant /Associate Professor starting in the Fall of 2018.

A Ph.D. in Statistics or Mathematics with a specialization in data analytics, probability, and/or statistics is preferred. The Department is in the process of establishing a new BS degree in Mathematics with a concentration in data analytics. We are seeking faculty who will lead this effort in collaboration with the College of Business and the College of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Technology. This person will teach courses in both mathematics and statistics, and will create courses for the new degree.

In addition to possessing excellent communication skills, the candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach both graduate and undergraduate levels. The successful candidate will also have an opportunity to undertake research with DSU colleagues in federal or state funded research projects. He or she will have a proven research/teaching capability in their area of specialization and be able to teach successfully lower and intermediate level courses in mathematics/statistics. As a successful candidate and a new faculty member, he/she will work in an exciting environment that encourages collaborative and multi-disciplinary approaches to expand and strengthen the department research goals. Supervision of undergraduate and graduate students is required.

The Department offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, and Mathematics Education; Master's degrees in Mathematics; and Ph.D.’s. in Interdisciplinary Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics. Delaware State University (DSU) has a diverse faculty and student population of more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students. DSU is located in Dover, Delaware and has campuses in Wilmington and Georgetown, Delaware.
