The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at California State University, Long Beach, warmly invites applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Mathematics beginning August 17, 2022. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline at the time of application, or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2022
  • Ability to teach computational mathematics courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentoring students in the sciences
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with programs from traditionally underrepresented groups that promote educational access, research and professional development, or other support for students
  • Successful teaching experience at the college level with a diverse student population
  • Research experience and a record of publications and/or interdisciplinary or industrial collaboration in Applied Probability, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, High-Performance Computing, Machine Learning, Optimization, or a related field
  • Successful research experience at the post-doctoral level
  • Demonstrated potential for developing/maintaining an externally funded research program
  • Experience or demonstrated potential for integrating undergraduate and graduate students in research projects
  • Experience in mentoring students from underrepresented and underserved population in the sciences
