ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Teach a wide range of undergraduate mathematics and/or data science courses

· Collaboratively contribute to interdisciplinary curricular and scholarly efforts within the department as well as across the entire College

· Work with students as academic advisor

· Contribute to departmental program development

· Participate in departmental administrative activities such as assessment, budgeting, course scheduling, etc.

· Participate in faculty governance and committee service

· Maintain regular office hours

· Teach courses in the Westminster First Year Experience

· Maintain an agenda for scholarly, professional, and/or creative activity

· Participate in enrollment activities by meeting with prospective students, preparing recruitment materials, and other activities as requested

Education:

Candidates should have one of the following from a regionally/nationally accredited institution, completed by August 1, 2023.

· Ph.D. in mathematics, data science, or statistics. ABD accepted with a firm completion deadline.

· Ph.D. degree in a closely related field with either an earned 18 hours of graduate coursework in mathematics, data science, or statistics OR at least five years of professional experience in mathematics, data science, or statistics.

· For the rank of Assistant Professor, Master’s Degree considered.

Skills and Experience:

· Evidence of successful teaching experience in a liberal arts setting is required.

· Applicants should be able to teach a wide range of undergraduate mathematics and/or data science courses, with demonstrated experience and success in teaching Math Pathways courses, such as Quantitative Reasoning, Elementary Statistics, and Calculus.

· Successful candidates will also demonstrate the ability to involve students in research, an appreciation of holistic student development, and a commitment to the interdisciplinary life of a small undergraduate campus.

· Preference will be given to candidates who include active learning approaches and incorporate technology with instruction.

· Preference given to candidates with a PhD (ABD with a firm completion date).
