for virtual element and discontinuous Galerkin finite element methods".
This project is concerned with the development and analysis of new algorithms for creating agglomerated meshes for use in discontinuous Galerkin finite element (DGFEM) or virtual element (VEM) methods. Existing methods of agglomeration are not designed to optimise the resulting DGFEM or VEM and, as such, may construct sub-optimal meshes with larger than ideal error. The postdoctoral researcher on this project will be responsible for developing the research in relation to the virtual element method, and will also be expected to help supervise the two Ph.D. students on the project. The initial appointment will be for three years with an initial starting salary of 49 000 CZK/month. The expected start date is September 1st 2022, although a later start date can be negotiated. Person Specification Applicants must hold a Ph.D., by the start date of the position (September 2022) and have experience with numerical analysis and finite element methods. Desirably, the applicant would also have experience with virtual element and/or discontinuous Galerkin finite element methods. Knowledge of MATLAB, C++, Python, or similar programming languages is required.
