Wabash College invites applications for a tenure-track position as Byron K. Trippet Assistant Professor in Computer Science, to begin July 1, 2023. Appointment at a higher rank may be possible for exceptionally qualified candidates. A Ph.D. in computer science or closely related field by the time of appointment is expected. Teaching load is 3-3. In addition to a competitive salary and benefits and generous professional travel support, the Byron K. Trippet appointment provides research support during the pre-tenure period.

Preference will be given to candidates who are interested in teaching a wide range of courses in computer science. We are looking for applicants with a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, an appreciation for the broad intellectual community of an excellent liberal arts college, and the ability to work with a diverse student body. Teaching duties include courses from introductory programming, core courses for CS majors, and advanced courses in the candidate’s specialty, as well as the occasional all-college course (Freshman Tutorial and Freshman Colloquium). The position also includes opportunities and support for directing undergraduate student research projects. In the midst of a strategic transformation to advance the success of first-generation students, students of color, and students from low-income families, Wabash College is committed to attracting and effectively supporting an academically and culturally diverse faculty. More than 25% of our students are federal Pell Grant recipients, one-third of our students are first generation college students, and about 20% of our students identify as domestic students of color.
