The Department of Mathematics in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for an Instructor or Lecturer position.  These positions involve teaching a range of courses in the department and are one-year appointments; renewal of the position is contingent on availability of funding, positive performance reviews and sufficient course enrollments.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Teach 3 mathematics courses per semester.  These may include large service courses and/or small discussion sections.
• Supervise TAs and graders for these courses.
• Develop and maintain curriculum and stewardship material for these courses.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mathematics for Instructor.  
• Ph.D. in Mathematics in hand for Lecturer.
• College teaching experience.
• Evidence of quality teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching large introductory service courses.
• Experience with TA supervision.
• Experience in course development.

Appointment Information

This is a full-time, 9-month appointment, non-tenure track position, renewable yearly subject to enrollments, funding, and positive performance evaluations.  

Target start date is August 16, 2023, with service dates from August 16, 2023 – May 15, 2024, but paid through August 15, 2024.  Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
