Department of Mathematical Sciences Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematical Sciences Ball State University

The Department of Mathematical Sciences has a full-time contract faculty position as Assistant Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematical Sciences beginning August 19, 2022. Primary instructional responsibilities include teaching courses in actuarial science, data science, data analytics, statistics, or other courses as assigned. Responsibilities for this position involve teaching four courses per semester and professional service.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in actuarial science, data science, data analytics, statistics, mathematics, or closely related field from an accredited institution by date of appointment, with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in actuarial science, data science, data analytics, statistics, or mathematics. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate or Fellow of either the Society of Actuaries (SOA) or the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS). Doctorate in actuarial science, data science, data analytics, statistics, mathematics, or closely related field by date of appointment. Experience teaching advanced actuarial science, data science, data analytics, or statistics classes is highly desirable, as is experience with programming languages such as R, SAS and/or Python. Experience in online instruction.
