Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2023. The successful candidate is expected to teach 12 hours per semester, including general education, introductory statistics, and graduate-level statistics courses; establish a record of scholarship and publication; and contribute to departmental, college, and university service.

New faculty will be given a one-course reduction for two semesters of their first two years of the appointment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or ABD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related area with a specialization or emphasis in statistics from an accredited or internationally recognized institution by the start of employment

Experience: The successful applicant will present evidence of the potential for teaching excellence in general education courses and statistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; the potential to establish a scholarship program; the potential to contribute to the department in terms of service such as advising, recruiting, and statistical consulting; and a commitment to and support of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with data science skills; programming experience in R, Python, or SAS; and the ability to involve and engage students in graduate and undergraduate research.
