The Department of Mathematics at Lafayette College invites applications for a tenure-track position to begin in the fall of 2022 at the level of Assistant Professor. The department's teaching mission is to provide a broad spectrum of courses across the undergraduate mathematics curriculum, including theoretical and applied mathematics, as well as statistics. Applicants should have the potential to make significant contributions to this mission. Candidates for this position must have a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences or be in the final stages of attaining one. Candidates from all research areas in mathematics are encouraged to apply. The department especially welcomes applications from candidates who will contribute to Lafayette's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in teaching and a strong, active research program. Faculty members teach the equivalent of four courses in their first year and five courses per year thereafter. Successful candidates will demonstrate willingness and ability to contribute to the life of a vigorous mathematics program on a small, exclusively undergraduate campus. Lafayette’s mathematics department has an outstanding record of leadership in undergraduate research, and candidates should have interest in mentoring student projects.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, a curriculum vita, brief statements describing their teaching philosophy and research program, and three references. These materials should demonstrate the applicant’s commitment to teaching in an undergraduate, liberal arts environment and address how the applicant’s teaching, research, and/or service will support Lafayette’s commitment to diversity and inclusion as articulated in the college’s diversity statement(diversity.lafayette.edu/diversity-statement/). These materials should be submitted online at mathjobs.org.
