The Department of Mathematics, which is an academic unit within the College of Arts and Sciences at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, offers a unique undergraduate degree program in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. The Department also has a newly established PhD program and anticipates a Masters program within a year. Mathematics Department faculty are members of prestigious worldwide professional organizations such as ACS, AMS, APS, IEEE, MRS, SIAM, AAPT and others, and several are winners of prestigious peer-reviewed research awards. The department is committed to disseminating mathematical knowledge through innovative teaching, excellence in research and friendly learning environment. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for lecturers and full time faculty positions in all ranks (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professors) and in any discipline relevant to pure/applied mathematics and statistics, with particular emphasis on mathematical finance and mathematical biology. The candidate is expected to have a strong research potential, demonstrated by relevant publications in high-impact journals, and teaching experience in above mentioned areas. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills. Successful candidates are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain active research programs that lead to peer-reviewed publications in high-impact professional journals, and provide service to the department, the university, and the profession. Successful candidates are also expected to be involved in thematic research within one or more of the university research priority areas.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Preference will be given to candidates with education from and/or previous service in pre-eminent institutions of higher education. Additional consideration will be given for candidates with research and teaching interests in mathematical finance and mathematical biology.

- Lecturer (focus on teaching): Master’s degree in a Mathematics-related discipline from an accredited institution. A minimum of 3 years of experience relevant to the position.

- Senior Lecturer (focus on teaching): Master’s degree in a Mathematics-related discipline from an accredited institution. A minimum of 8 years of experience relevant to the position.

- Assistant Professor (tenure track): PhD or equivalent doctorate, in a Mathematics-related discipline from an accredited institution. A minimum of 3 years of experience after obtaining PhD relevant to the position and proven research potential.

- Associate Professor: PhD or equivalent doctorate, in a Mathematics-related discipline from an accredited institution. A minimum of 8 years teaching or postgraduate research experience, out of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor and have demonstrated high standards in teaching, advising, and research.

- Full Professor: PhD or equivalent doctorate, in a Mathematics-related related discipline from an accredited institution. A minimum of 10 years teaching and postgraduate research experience, out of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Associate Professor and have demonstrated high standards in teaching, advising, and research.
