Advertisement for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor

The Kerala School of Mathematics (KSoM) is seeking highly qualified candidates for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in all areas of Mathematics. This is a one-year appointment, renewable annually for up to five years based on a successful research performance review each year. The position offers a consolidated monthly salary of up to ₹125,000, with an annual increment of ₹2,000. Applications must be received by March 31, 2025. The Visiting Assistant Professors are expected to conduct high-quality research, and teach in our graduate programs.

A doctoral degree (PhD) in Mathematics, awarded by a reputable national or international university, is a mandatory requirement. The preferred age limit for candidates applying for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor is up to 35 years. 

About the institute

The Kerala School of Mathematics, a national research institute located in Kozhikode, Kerala, India, is dedicated to fundamental mathematics and related disciplines. Established as a collaborative initiative between the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment (KSCSTE), KSoM aims to evolve into a leading global hub for mathematical research.

Selection Procedure

Applicants are expected to demonstrate international recognition in their field. Research will be evaluated for its innovative and original contributions. An initial screening, emphasizing a strong publication record, will identify promising candidates. Selected individuals will be invited to KSoM to present a seminar to the selection committee and engage in discussions with faculty as part of the final selection process.

KSoM will conduct an initial review of all applications and will only proceed with those considered strong candidates. Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not ensure an applicant will be shortlisted. The institute may choose not to fill advertised positions based on the quality of the applicant pool. This Visiting Assistant Professor appointment is a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship, comparable to DST INSPIRE Faculty positions, but it is a temporary role, distinct from a tenure-track Assistant Professor position.
