1.Brief introduction of Nankai and the School of Mathematical Science

Founded in 1919, located in Tianjin on the coast of the sea of Bohai, Nankai University is a key multidisciplinary and research-oriented university, which has a fully-fledged education system for producing undergraduates, postgraduates on master's and doctoral programs and post-doctoral researchers. It has seen remarkable performances in talents cultivation, in which a renowned alumnus, the PRC’s first premier Zhou Enlai is the excellent representative. In 2017, the university was selected to the list of 42 universities and colleges that will participate in the country’s “Double First-Class” Initiative as one of the 36 A-level universities in China.

Established in 1920 by Mr. Lifu Jiang, the Department of Mathematics of Nankai is the predecessor of the School of Mathematical Sciences (hereinafter named SMS). Nankai mathematics discipline was rated as one of the first Double First-Class construction disciplines, and the first-level discipline national key discipline. SMS currently has eight teaching and research institutions : Department of Mathematics, Department of Information and Data Science, Department of Probability and Statistics, Department of Applied Mathematics, Department of Scientific and Engineering Computing, Department of Mathematical Finance and Actuarial Science, Department of Advanced Mathematics, and Computing Laboratory, with a key laboratory named core mathematics and combinatorial mathematics, assessed by the Ministry of Education, as well as other high-level academic platform such as the Center for Mathematical Interdisciplinary Science.

In order to implement the strategy of strengthening the university with talents, accelerate the development of mathematics discipline, and bring together global high-level talents, SMS is looking for talents at home and abroad in Pure Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Mathematical Economics and related research fields.

2.Introduction of the Forum

The International Talent Forum of Nankai University has been successfully held for seven sessions since 2016, which has become a talent brand project for many excellent young scholars at home and abroad to learn about and choose Nankai. The 8th International Talent Forum of Nankai University will invite you to meet in Nankai on September 26, 2023 for academic exchanges, work discussions and cooperation in personnel and talent policy promotion. Welcome you to join Nankai.

3.Forum Schedule

The forum is divided into “school main forum” and “academic subject sub-forums".

• Sept.25 : Participants Arrival and Registration

• Sept.26 a.m.: Opening ceremony speech delivered by Mr. Chen Yulu, President of Nankai University; Main forum：introduction of Nankai and talent policy

• Sept.26 p.m. & Sept.27 a.m.: Sub-forums: academic reports, seminars and campus visits organized by individual colleges

• Sept.27 p.m. : Closure of the forum

4.Application requirements

Scholars who comply with laws and regulations, social morality, are physically and mentally healthy, have obtained a doctoral degree from renowned universities at home and abroad, and have made outstanding academic achievements in related fields with good development potential.

5.Application Method

Each applicant can apply via https://gczzom.fanqier.cn/f/5wkjprur to fill in relevant information. Application materials include a CV., a list of published papers, and no more than 3 representative papers.

Application deadline: September 15, 2023

Qualified applicants will be informed as soon as possible via invitation letters by the Personnel Office.

6.Conference Funding

There is no fee for the forum. The accommodation and transportation expenses of the invited scholars will be borne by Nankai University and will be specifically arranged by the relevant colleges. The maximum reimbursement for transportation expenses is 10,000 yuan/person for overseas applicants and 5,000 yuan/person for domestic applicants. Please keep your original air ticket itinerary, train tickets or other related receipts with you.

7. Specific Position Information

(1) Talents

- Nankai Chair Professor: A first-class scholar and discipline construction leader in the relevant professional area, who has internationally recognized academic reputation and influence in the domain of the discipline, and has fulfilled landmark teaching and scientific research achievements. A senior full professor in the world's top university (scientific research institution) or with the equivalent level.

- Nankai Outstanding Professor: A well-known scholar and academic leader in the relevant professional area, who has recognized academic reputation and influence in the domain of the discipline, and has obtained outstanding teaching and scientific research achievements. A full professor in the world's top university (scientific research institution) or with the equivalent level.

- Nankai Talent Professor: The academic backbone of the relevant professional area, who has recognized academic reputation and influence in the domain of the discipline, and has made a high level of teaching and scientific research achievements. An associate professor in the world's top university (scientific research institution) or with the equivalent level.

(2) Young Academic Leader

Job requirements:

- Having obtained the doctor's degree and having reached the academic level of associate professor above of Nankai University

- Having an excellent research foundation and research direction based on the academic frontier with strong innovation ability and outstanding academic potential

- Applicants for Associate Professor position, under the age of 35; for Full Professor position, under the age of 40

(3) Full Professor

Basic conditions of the position: applicants should meet the qualifications of Full Professor in Nankai University, under the age of 40.

(4) Associate Professor

Job requirements:

- Having received a doctor's degree (at least 2 years in full-time postdoctoral research with related research experiences)

- Having reached the academic level of associate professor of Nankai University

- Under the age of 35 (the age of outstanding applicants can be appropriately relaxed)

The specific requirements are in accordance with the 2023 recruitment announcement of Nankai University.

(5) Postdoctoral Fellow

Job requirements:

- Having received a doctor's degree from well-known universities (or research institutions) at home and abroad

- Having achieved good academic achievements with great development potential

- Under the age of 35

Nankai University attaches importance to the introduction and cultivation of excellent postdoctoral fellows, and encourages qualified doctors and postdoctoral fellows to apply for the "Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program" and "Overseas Recruitment of Postdoctoral Fellows" of the National Postdoctoral Committee. The University will give key support to the selected candidates, and implement generous salary treatment by adding the inherent salary of the University to the national subsidy; and in accordance with the national policy, the University will formulate complementary policies for the selected candidates of the "Baoxin Program" to strengthen the supporting inputs.

8.Support
