Position Description
The following position is to be filled as soon as possible in the research group Artificial Intelligence for Programming, Institute of Computer Science, Faculty for Mathematics and Computer Science at Heidelberg University:
Research Associate (f/m/d)
(Salary is according to E 13 TV-L)
with 100% of regular working hours. This position aims at supporting a PhD project and is initially limited to a fixed term of three years due to third-party funding in accordance with the law “Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz” (Wis-sZeitVG) and.
Your tasks:
- Research in the group for Artificial Intelligence for Programming of Prof. Dr. Artur Andrzejak, in particular on interpretability and architectural optimization of Deep Learning models (incl. LLMs) and Vector Symbolic Architectures
- Transfer of these results to the application fields of programming with focus on program repair, code translation, program synthesis, and related
- Assistance with teaching in German (4 SWS) according to the requirements of the E 13 TV-L, preparation of teaching materials, and research project management.
Your profile:
- A completed scientific degree (master's/diploma degree) in mathematics, computer science, computer linguistics, scientific computing, physics, or electrical engineering
- Knowledge of machine learning methods, preferably with focus on sequence models or NLP
- Good programming skills, specifically Python
- Familiarity with Deep Learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX/Flax) is highly welcome, but not required
- Good knowledge of German language (C1 or better) is mandatory.
