Dr. B. Bourdin is expecting to hire one or more postdoctoral fellows to join his research group supported by the Canada Research Chair in Mathematical and Computational Aspects of Solid Mechanics. The research projects include but are not limited to advanced discretizations and numerical schemes for variational phase-field of fracture, the analysis of coupling of fracture and diffusion processes, and microstructure reconstruction from 3D imaging. The expected duration of the appointment is two years and will include a limited amount of teaching. 

The fellowship is open to candidates of any nationality.  Candidates must have a PhD. in mathematics or related fields. Some knowledge of solid mechanics, calculus of variations, applied PDE, or mathematical aspects of the finite element method is expected. It provides a minimum annual stipend salary of $50,000, plus a $2,000 grant for research expenses, with some flexibility to adjust to experience and career stage of candidates.
