Position Description
Candidates with a strong applied/computational mathematics
background are invited to apply for a research postdoctoral fellowship in the
area of mathematical data science within Professor Rongjie Lai’s group (https://www.rongjielai.com)
at the Department of Mathematics (https://www.math.purdue.edu),
Purdue University.
The successful applicant will collaborate on one or more
multidisciplinary projects within the Lai group. Possible projects include, but
are not limited to, deep manifold learning, optimal control and deep generative
models, geometric deep learning, optimization and sampling on manifolds, and
signal processing and deep learning on graphs. Additionally, this position
offers great opportunities for multidisciplinary collaborations with experts in
medical imaging, computational chemistry, materials science, and mechanical
engineering.
The position is designed to last up to three years, with an
initial appointment of two years. An extension to a third year is contingent
upon the availability of funding and the fellow's performance. The anticipated
start date is August 2025; however, an earlier start date can be arranged
if the selected candidate prefers.
