Applied Mathematics (with AI Focus)

The Department of Mathematics at Tufts University invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position in applied or computational mathematics with connections to AI, beginning Fall 2026. The position is at the assistant professor or (tenured) associate professor levels. Research fields of interest include, but are not limited to, AI-driven methods in applied, and computational mathematics, statistical and machine learning, scientific machine learning, and optimization. The successful candidate will exhibit the potential to collaborate with colleagues in the department and across Tufts University.

Applicants must hold a doctorate in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field by the beginning of the appointment, have an active research program, show promise of outstanding research, and exhibit a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and teach courses in mathematics, applied, or computational mathematics, including, but not limited to, machine learning, analysis, PDE, optimization, and scientific computing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
