The faculty of the Department of Mathematics at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a full-time, professional-track position at the rank of Instructor to begin August 16, 2026. The position is a 9-month appointment with a teaching load of 8 courses for the academic year. This is an annual appointment that may be renewed contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, availability of funds, and approval of the Dean of the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences.
Candidates must have a minimum of a master's degree in mathematics or mathematics education and must have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will teach coordinated undergraduate courses including, but not limited to, college algebra, finite and discrete mathematics, precalculus, applied calculus, and calculus. Evaluation of the candidate's teaching will be based on peer observations, student feedback, and the candidate's demonstrated investment in the curriculum. The candidate will also perform departmental service amounting to roughly 10% of their overall workload.
